Sonam's got homework!

sonamkapooracc1.jpgMUMBAI, Nov. 9 -- The news that Sonam Kapoor will play Rekha's role from her 1980 hit Khubsoorat in her father Anil Kapoor's remake, is setting tongues wagging.
But now, we've heard that she plans to watch the classic film a few times before starting the shoot next year.
So, once she is through with Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Raanjhana, she will get down and concentrate only on the Khoobsurat remake, produced by her sister Rhea, who earlier teamed up with Sonam on Aisha (2010), which was a success at the box-office.
We have heard the Kapoor sisters don't want to leave anything to chance with the remake as well.

SRK does a DDLJ again for Rohit Shetty's Chennai Express

chennaiexpressstill1.jpgInstead of celebrating the success of his recent hit Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Shah Rukh Khan has already moved on and is busy shooting his next film Chennai Express at breakneck speed.
The film has SRK paired opposite Deepika Padukone and is directed by Rohit Shetty.
As the name suggests, the train journey forms a pivotal part of the story. In this pic, SRK is seen doing a repeat of his famous scene from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ) only this time, it's Deepika and not Kajol and she seems to be walking slowly rather than running to catch the train.
Moreover, while DDLJ's train sequence was shot in the EURAIL, it's the Indian Railways here that forms the backdrop of Chennai Express.
Also what's interesting is Deepika's look in the film which resembles that of a typical South Indian village belle.
Chennai Express is slated to release in 2013

Deepika Padukone gets injured during Ram Leela shoot

deepikapadukonenice1.jpgDeepika Padukone is known to be very professional when it comes to her shooting schedules. And recently, the Cocktail actor further reinforced her image.
Deepika, who is currently shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next, tentatively titled Ram Leela, apparently suffered a few bruises
and scratches on her arms and feet. But despite the swelling that the wounds caused, the actor continued to shoot.
A source reveals, “Deepika was wearing a heavy ghagra choli and weighty jewellery for a song she was shooting that day. Ranveer Singh (co-actor) was also dressed in a dhoti. But he was wearing lots of bracelets and armlets. The choreographer required him to lift her around the place for the song, which is how his accessories ended up bruising her.”
The actors were shooting the song at the set which has been created at Film City, Goregaon. Since they were also required to stay barefoot for the traditional number, Deepika apparently even developed blisters on her right sole.
“But none of that deterred her from completing the shoot. She didn’t utter a word. It was only after the crew noticed her wound that the situation was brought to the director’s notice,” adds the source.
Deepika and Ranveer will come together for the first time in Ram Leela, which is rumoured to be a Gujarati take on Shakespeare’s Romeo And Juliet.

7-year-old Indian becomes the youngest person to scale a mountain in Nepal

Born on March 18, 2005, in Tamil Nadu, Aaryan Balaji just did his parents and a whole nation proud. A few months ago he scaled Mt. Kala Pattar (17,900 ft) in Nepal, becoming the youngest person to stand on the mountain peak. His father, K.S. Balaji is his inspiration and trainer. The Navy Commander and mountaineer took his son under his wing to teach him the skill of mountaineering with an effort to show him the wonders of nature and build his personality.
On one of their trips to the Vaishno Devi shrine in the Shivalik hills of Katra, his parents discovered that he had a natural penchant for climbing, unwittingly using mountaineering techniques that no one ever taught him. What attracted him on the peak were the variety of birds and animals. "It was so nice to be on top of a mountain. I saw Danphe (the national bird of Nepal) and wild goats. The sparrows in the mountain were so big, they looked like pigeons," he said in all innocence.
Next on his agenda is nothing less than Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa.

Husbands, get ready to pay housewives salary!

The government is now seriously considering an interesting proposal made by the Women and Child development (WCD) ministry.
Husbands should pay house wives a monthly salary for all the effort they take to maintain a home. They believe it will go a long way in the socioeconomic empowerment of homemakers who feel unappreciated. WCD minister Krishna Tirath said that the work women do at home goes unaccounted for. Money is spent on cooks, cleaners and even children who are sent to a crèche. All these responsibilities fall under economic activity which, if recognized, could throw more accurate light on India’s GDP and offer a better account of unemployment rate. The minister has said that if a portion of a husband’s income is allocated to his wife, it is likely to be better spent on necessities to upgrade the standard of living. A survey has been conducted on the subject and more consultations are planned to see this proposal through. Several NGOs have supported the idea.

Skipping breakfast can give you high blood sugar

Photo ©menscosmo.com
If you are among those who skips breakfast to lose weight, hear this. All that you end up losing is your health and happiness. Nutrition experts insist that a filling breakfast actually helps you lose weight by curbing hunger through the day.
As the body goes without food through the night, a whole morning without nourishment weakens the system. Blood sugar is disrupted and insulin output is affected. You also tend to binge eat at odd hours or gorge on junk food later in the evening when low metabolism slows down digestion, leading to extra weight gain. Skipping breakfast brings down your energy level, leaveing you unfocused and craving for food whole day. They suggest a full meal first thing in the morning, complete with carbohydrates, protein and fibre that comes from cereals, eggs, fruits and milk etc.
At all costs its imperative to avoid deep fried food, preserved food, left over foods, high sugar foods such as cakes and pastries. They also advise against just a glass of juice. Brown bread is recommended over white bread. Research has also shown that breakfast skippers are heavier and unhealthier than those who have a fresh, healthy meal.
