Shiv Sena chief was admitted to Lilavati hospital's ICU in Mumbai on 25 July 2012 after he complained of breathlessness.
As per reports on 14 November, he has stopped eating and is on continuous oxygen.

Mumbai, some shops voluntary closed citing the risk of untoward
incidents should Thackeray's health deteriorate and possibly be fatal.On 17 November 2012 he breathed his last at 86 in his residence Matoshree,Mumbai after months of illness.he passed away at 3.33 pm in his house Matoshree after a cardio-respiratory arrest, his doctor Jaleel Parkar announced at Bandra, Mumbai
